As VP of Regulatory Affairs at Sovos since 2018, I'm a subject matter expert bridging taxpayers, the IRS, state agencies, and industry partners to modernize tax operations. For six years-including four as Chair of the IRS Advisory Council's Information Reporting Subgroup-I've shaped policy priorities: IRIS modernization, digital asset reporting (1099-DA), OB3 guidance, and fraud prevention collaboration. I engage through multiple channels: speaking at SIFMA, Coindesk, and CERCA events; leading NACTP as newly elected Secretary; publishing thought leadership and webinars; and meeting directly with regulators. My driving principle: tax transparency. Today's fraud challenges illustrate the problem: rising 1099 and W-2 fraud causes the IRS to block entire files of compliant returns, harming innocent taxpayers. I help the IRS understand how we proactively prevent fraud while advising rulemaking to ensure fraud prevention doesn't become operationally impossible for tax software filers.
