Course Description

Course Description

Market turbulence in 2020 may have wreaked havoc on your investment goals for the year. It probably also highlighted the importance of periodically reviewing your investment portfolio to determine whether adjustments are needed to keep it on track. Now is a good time to take on these investment tasks.

One of the greatest problems preventing investors from achieving their financial goals is that, when it comes to judging the performance of an investment strategy, they believe that three years is a long time, five years is a very long time and 10 years is an eternity. Even supposedly more sophisticated institutional investors, those who employ highly paid consultants, typically hire fire managers based on the last three years’ performance. Yet, financial economists know that when it comes to risk assets 10 years is likely noise. The CPE webinar explains why investors must understand this and have the discipline to stay the course.

Many people are deficient in their understanding of basic investing terms and concepts, they invest inappropriately or not at all. This failure is a detriment to meeting financial goals and securing a safe and satisfying retirement.

The online CPE Finance course will examine important ideas such as:

  • Dollar-Cost Averaging
  • Evaluation of asset categories and funding vehicles
  • Review strategies deployment to ensure favorable outcomes

Major Topics covered in this online CPE webinar:

  • Factors that drive the stock market
  • Power of compound interest
  • Role of human capital in investments
  • Investor behavior trumps investment returns
  • Stock Market vs Casino
  • Tactical vs. Strategic Asset Allocation
  • Core-Satellite
  • Active vs. Passive
  • Tax Loss Harvesting
This online CPE webinar will help accountants and other financial professionals make sound, informed decisions regarding investment, asset allocation, portfolio rebalancing, risk management, and retirement planning.

Learning Objectives

  • To determine why individual issues should comprise only a small part of a portfolio.
  • To describe how a lack of appreciation of long-term capital gains tax rates will lead to poor investment decisions.
  • To describe how an investor's behavior trumps everything when it comes to investment success.
