Course Description

Course Description

Captive Insurance is a powerful business strategy that protects a business, decreases taxes, and builds wealth.

It refers to a subsidiary corporation established to provide insurance to the parent company and its affiliates. A captive insurance company represents an option for many corporations and groups that want to take financial control and manage risks by underwriting their insurance rather than paying premiums to third-party insurers.

Forming a captive insurance company is a way to cover gaps, exclusions, and deductibles in existing insurance policies.  In addition, a captive can also issue tailored policies to protect against risks that may not be readily available or too costly with typical commercial policies.

Following are the major topics covered in this CPE course:

  • Who is eligible for captive insurance?
  • Types of policies of captive insurance.
  • How do captives integrate with traditional insurance?
  • How to create insurance and warranty programs?
  • Structure and formation process.
  • How captives can decrease taxes?
  • Costs and benefits of captive insurance.
  • How do captives build wealth/ improve cash flow?
  • Case studies of captive insurance companies.

This CPE webinar will provide an overview of captive insurance.
