Many changes have taken place for business
professionals due to COVID-19.
Most workplaces have transitioned to fully remote operations, and there is an
abundance of new rules and regulations to navigate through. In these difficult
times, accounting and tax professionals must especially stay up to date on
ethical practices and new quality control procedures.
Ethical issues for tax practitioners
typically arise from a conflict among the duties owed to the client, to the
system, and to yourself. When conflicts arise, it is important to understand
what standards will be used to judge your conduct. This program will review
Circular 230, and selected tax penalties, and discuss specific situations, both
in the context of tax planning and return preparation. Currently, the IRS only requires
practitioners who represent taxpayers before the IRS to follow Circular 230 due
to the Loving case. Even though tax representation creates a jurisdiction hook,
tax representatives can still run afoul of tax preparation issues under
Circular 230. The Free Ethics Webinar covers the basics of IRS Office
Professional Responsibility, how it functions, and interacts with tax
practitioners.
In this online ethics webinar, you will
learn the ins and outs of Circular
230. Circular 230 is where tax practitioners have their main source of ethics.
Oftentimes, practitioners can inadvertently go astray from these rules. This
webinar will look at real-life examples of practitioners who violated Circular
230.
Key topics covered in this online Free Ethics CPE webinar are as follows:
This IRS-Approved CE course is recommended for CPAs, EAs, AFSPs, and Tax Preparers seeking to fulfill their regulatory ethics CE requirement while updating themselves with Circular 230.

An excellent presentation regarding the broad area of Ethics and IRS Circular 230. Could have projected some more about the nuts and bolts means by which we need to deal with protecting our client's computer data as well as what are the requirements for digital signatures by both the client(s) and the preparing firm.

This was a great presentation on a topic that can be complex, dull, and difficult to stay focused during. Nick did an excellent job interweaving stories and examples to keep the presentation engaging and insightful while reviewing an extremely important topic.
