Course Description

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct) was enacted creating immediate potential tax savings for building owners or architects and engineers based on the use of energy efficient improvements. Section 179D outlines the requirements for a maximum potential tax deduction of up to $1.80 per square foot of affected spaces.

Under the Consolidated Appropriation Act of 2021, the 179D Commercial Buildings Tax Deduction, also known as the 179D EPAct Tax Deduction, was made permanent.

The recent permanent extension of EPAct 179D has brought “green” building to the forefront of people’s minds once again.  This powerful incentive may now be applied to projects placed-in-service any time after 1/1/2006, but the qualifying reference standards have changed.

This online continuing education course will discuss EPAct 179D in detail, highlighting especially suitable property types, exploring the scope of savings, explaining the required benchmarks, and reviewing the documentation required to support results.

The Online CPE course will also address the 45L tax credit, focusing on the unique data acquisition process.

This online CE course will also discuss new exciting initiatives such as:

  • Solar Energy Incentives
  • NYC Carbon Emissions Bill
  • Utility Sales tax Recovery
  • C-PACE

The speaker will also provide numerous real-life case studies.
