Course Description

Course Description

Employers and employees or labor unions are on opposite sides of the bargaining table and usually represent divergent interests, so their relationship can sometimes be highly adversarial. However, both employers and unions can gain more out of their interactions if they improve their working relationships. Union-management cooperation characterizes a relationship between employers and labor unions that has the mutual aim of improving organizational performance and sustainability, which in turn benefits both the employer and employees.

In this CPE course, the speaker will address the needs of the employer and the union building the relationship upon which this agreement will stand for years to come.

Negotiation is a skill we use every day – from agreeing on what the kids can watch on their devices; to what to do at the weekend; to the remit and timescale for an upcoming project; to contracting a system upgrade or planning the year-end process; and so on. Even going for a promotion is negotiation around skills, requirements, and their worth.

This CPE/CPD webinar is intended to outline the concepts of successful negotiation highlighted by learning preparation, tactics, and methods of getting an agreement, effective clausing, and how to cost out your agreement.

Following are the major areas covered in this CPE webinar:

  • Selecting the right negotiations team, and understanding the union team.
  • Preparation to negotiate and learning how to listen.
  • Learning the do's & don'ts of negotiation.

  • Developing time-tested strategies for negotiations.
  • Understanding when to use employer pressure tactics.
