Course Description

This online continuing education course is designed to meet the general ethics requirements for CPAs licensed in various states. It covers IRS Circular 230, AICPA Statements on Standards for Tax Services, IRS practice issues and the IRC Sec. 6694(a) tax return practitioner penalty. This free ethics course is designed to provide the CPA with an ethical framework used to sort through ethical dilemmas. In addition to conceptual theories, it provides detailed guidance on the applicable specific laws, rules, and regulations. The ethics course is designed to serve a dual purpose, the course provides the tools to spot questionable ethical practices and acts as a detailed reference guide to research the appropriate ethical response to virtually any situation.

Many changes have taken place for business professionals due to COVID-19. Most workplaces have transitioned to fully remote operations, and there is an abundance of new rules and regulations to navigate through. In these difficult times, accounting and tax professionals must especially stay up to date on ethical practices and new quality control procedures.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Nicholas Preusch

Nicholas has worked with the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Agent and an Attorney with the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility. Nicholas has authored publications for the AICPA’s Journal of Accountancy, AICPA’s Tax Advisor, NATP’s Tax Pro Journal, and CCH’s Journal of Tax Practice and Procedure. He also co-authored a textbook, Tax Preparer Penalties and Circular 230 Enforcement, published by Thomson Reuters. Nicholas has been recognized as the Top 5 Under 35 CPAs in Virginia, and is a member of the  AICPA’s Tax Executive Committee. Nicholas is an adjunct professor at the University of Mary Washington. He is a graduate of Carthage College, University of Connecticut (M.S. in Accounting), Case Western Reserve University School of Law (J.D.), and Georgetown University (LLM in Taxation).

I truly enjoyed the presentation. Nick presented the material in an informative and entertaining way, including real life examples. I feel I learned a lot. I was interested in the entire 4 hour presentation. This long of a webinar could have been brutal with a different presenter.
