Taxes are a major expense item and need to be managed separately and carefully.

At a minimum, you should be aware of your tax situation with projections prepared regularly and big picture explanations of what is taxed, how, why, when, and potential strategies that could reduce them. The CPE course will discuss how planning for different sources and timing of client income affect the client’s annual tax liabilities. Financial planners will understand the significance of the standard deduction, itemized deductions, and other deductions and credits to reduce taxable income. Tax planning and preparation strategies will be emphasized to assist clients in reaching their financial planning goals.  We delve into how a client’s business income and choice of business entity affect an individual’s ultimate tax liability.  Valuable tools and checklists include a discussion of how planners can use a client’s tax return to gather essential information for comprehensive financial planning.

Warren is an adjunct professor of accounting and taxation at Long Island University, New Jersey City University, and Rutgers Business School. In addition, he is an accomplished author, and has regularly contributed to publications the experts rely on, like Marshall Loeb's Money Guide, Taxation for Accountants, and The CPA Journal. Warren has been very active in professional organizations, and has frequently been elected as president, board member or committee chair.
