Course Description

Course Description

Don’t leave money on the table. Learn how you can put money back into your business through specialty tax incentives.

The long-term financial benefits of energy-efficient homes are well established. Net Zero Energy homes cost less to own. The biggest financial challenge is the up-front investment in materials and labor. Fortunately, many utilities and agencies, as well as the federal government, offer financial incentives.

After years of lobbying, the energy tax incentive industry secured several big wins. These came in the form of the 45L Residential Tax Credit receiving a one-year extension, extending the credit through the end of 2021, and the energy-efficient commercial building tax deduction 179D being made permanent. Now, eligible parties in the real estate and construction industries can take advantage of these beneficial tax incentives and be rewarded with potentially significant savings.

The CE/CPE course will cover the fundamentals of specific tax-saving opportunities, including R&D Tax Credits, 45L Credits, 179D Deductions, and Cost Segregation.

Major topics covered in this CPE webinar:

  • History, legislative and administrative updates.
  • Project qualification and quantification.
  • Industry case studies.

Attendees will leave the CE tax webinar better equipped to identify and estimate any potential tax savings for their business or clients.

Learning Objectives

  • To analyze qualifications and eligible properties of the Energy Efficient Commercial Building Deduction – IRC Sec 179D.
  • To explain qualifications, eligible properties, and legislative updates of the Energy Efficient Home Credit – IRC Section 45L.
  • To identify target-rich environments for Research & Development activities utilizing the 4-part test and basic exclusions.
  • To discuss information on composite case studies for each tax incentive.
