Payroll fraud is one of those difficult but necessary subjects to discuss and confront on a regular basis. On the one hand, the vast majority of us simply cannot contemplate such a breach of ethics. Envy and greed play no part in the role of a payroll professional - and if these emotions trouble you, then a career change is the only answer. On the other hand, we all know it does occur - and we have to be prepared to identify it and prevent it from happening in our employer’s business.
This course centers its discussion around the ever-present dilemma of payroll fraud. Some questions that will be addressed are how big the problem is, the demographics of the perpetrators, the types of companies who fall prey to payroll fraud and most importantly, how to reduce the risk of becoming a victim.
This course is designed to review the issue of payroll frauds. Examples of actual frauds will be provided so participants can understand how the frauds are being committed and how they were uncovered. Information will be provided about payroll frauds committed by employees as well as payroll frauds committed by management and company owners. We will review various methodologies for detecting payroll fraud and will discuss developing internal controls to help prevent and detect payroll fraud.
To be clear, this is not a discussion of how to do payroll so much as it is an informational course on how your practice fits in with the issue of payroll fraud and how to prevent it.

Owner, Werner-Rocca Seminars. Ltd
Allen Noll is in the business of building systems to help companies tackle the challenges faced by today’s business owners and executives. Allen’s entrepreneurial spirit comes from his father and from working in and on privately owned businesses for over twenty years. Since his graduation from Villanova University in 1989, he’s been working in the third-party payroll processing industry.
While working at Noll and Company, Inc. and The Payroll Factory®, Allen earned his CPA. He wasn’t interested in being an accountant as much as he wanted the financial knowledge and clarity to further help his clients. He purchased The Payroll Factory® from his father in 2002 and has grown the business year after year servicing their clients’ needs.
Allen maintains membership in The American Payroll Association (APA), Independent Payroll Processors Association (IPPA), the Main Line Chamber of Commerce, and the Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (YEO). He is a member/presenter at national conferences and a chairperson/presenter at Northeast regional meetings of the National Association of Small Business Accountants. He has also been a member, Board Member, and a presenter at national meetings of the Advanced Accountants Marketing Network. And when the American Payroll Processors Association was in its heyday, he served as vice president and a frequent presenter.
Additionally, Allen is asked to contribute his expertise at seminars offered by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the Main Line Association of Continuing Education (MACE). He has also attended national IRS meetings on improving the Electronic Funds Transfer Payment Systems.
Allen is married and has three daughters. His EOL/The Payroll Factory® team brought home the Great Valley Corporate Center Softball League Championship the last two years. When not with his family or playing ball, he spends as much time as he can fishing and hunting.
