The AICPA’s Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) credential encourages and recognizes CPAs’ unique abilities to provide business insight by leveraging the knowledge of information relationships and supporting technologies. The CITP credential is granted exclusively to CPAs and recognized equivalents who specialize and demonstrate specific skills, expertise, and experience in the following areas: IT assurance, IT risks, data analytics, security and privacy, business solutions, and emerging IT trends.

CPA/CERTIFIED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONAL (CITP) CPD REQUIREMENT OVERVIEW

CPD Requirements
20 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) every year
License Renewal Period
Credential renewal occurs in July of each year.

CPA/CITP Credential Holders cannot carry forward excess credits to the next reporting cycle.

CPA/Certified Information Technology Professionals (CITP) are required to complete 20 hours of CPD annually within the credential body of knowledge. Many of our programs in Live and Self-Study are approved for continuing education for CPA/Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP). 

There is no Ethics requirement for a CPA/Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP).

The CPA/Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) license renewal period ends in July each year.

From January 1st to December 31st Every year. Credential holders must meet the recertification requirements in the calendar year prior to renewal. If the credential holder is newly credentialed, CPD does not need to be completed until the year following receipt of the credential.

  • Information Technology Risk and Advisory Services
  • Engagement Compliance
  • IT Controls and Assessment

No, there are no minimum CPD requirements in a particular subject area.

Qualifying activities are:

  • Structured learning activities approved by NASBA or a legally constituted state authority, or other professional body; or unstructured learning activities as outlined by the AICPA
  • Unstructured learning activities may constitute up to 50% (10 hours annually) of a credential holder’s CPD to meet credential renewal requirements

Annual Membership dues are based on your role, industry, and work status. When you join as a new member, your billing cycle will be prorated based on the month you joined. The membership year runs from August 1 through July 31.  

Renewal payments are due each year by July 31 and the first renewal notice is sent in June. If you joined in May, June, or July, your first renewal invoice will be sent the following year. An enrollment fee of $65 applies for new members.

CPA/Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) can complete 100% of the total required CE credits hours via self-study courses. i.e., CPA/Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) can complete all 20 hours via self-study courses from NASBA-approved CE sponsors as myCPE is approved by NASBA (Sponsor id 143597). 

Yes, the Short video (Nano learning) method is approved for the CPD requirements of CPA/Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP). AICPA accepts NASBA-sponsored CPE.

No, a CPA/Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP)  cannot carry over excess credit earned in a particular renewal cycle.

If recertification requirements are not met within the specified time period your CPA/CITP Certification, the credential will be rescinded and the reinstatement requirements must be met to regain the credential.

If the credential holder is newly credentialed, CPD does not need to be completed until the year following receipt of the credential.

Based on the guidelines issued by these boards regarding Continuing Education Requirements, we recommend the programs/ webinars to be suitable for NASBA specified in each webinar. However, it will be the responsibility of each attendee to ensure that they are eligible for the Continuing Education Credits based on their occupation/ job profile, knowledge requirements as well as guidelines laid down by their regulatory board before registering for the webinars.
