Aprio to Acquire RSM’s Professional Services+ Practice in Strategic Expansion

Aprio, the Atlanta-based accounting and advisory firm, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire the Professional Services+ (PS+) practice of RSM US LLP. The transaction encompasses PS+ operations in both the United States and Canada and is expected to close on April 30, subject to the fulfillment of customary closing conditions. 

This acquisition marks a significant step in Aprio’s ongoing growth strategy, positioning the firm to further enhance its offerings to professional services clients. With FY2023 net revenue of $420.8 million, Aprio continues to expand its footprint and strengthen its capabilities by integrating teams with established sector-specific expertise. 

Richard Kopelman, CEO of Aprio, expressed enthusiasm about the transition. He noted that RSM has provided an exceptional platform for the PS+ practice over the past four decades, and Aprio is committed to building on that foundation. He emphasized that the addition of PS+ will foster a robust community of complementary firms, unlocking new opportunities for collaboration and innovation. 

Effective May 1, the PS+ practice will officially become part of Aprio. The practice will continue under the leadership of Dean Sengstock, who will join Aprio as a partner along with four other partners and more than 30 professionals. Sengstock underscored the team's commitment to maintaining continuity for clients, affirming that the services provided, and the client-focused philosophy will remain unchanged. 

For RSM US LLP, which reported FY2024 net revenue of $4 billion, the move reflects a strategic realignment. Brian Becker, Managing Partner and CEO of RSM, explained that the transaction supports the firm's goal to concentrate more deeply on its core assurance, tax, and consulting service offerings for the middle market. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the PS+ team over the last 40 years and expressed appreciation for their role within the organization. 

The integration of the PS+ practice into Aprio is expected to strengthen the firm’s sector-focused services and reinforce its position in the professional services market across North America. This strategic move illustrates Aprio’s continued commitment to delivering specialized, client-centric solutions while supporting growth through purposeful acquisition.
