Los Angeles-based accounting and advisory firm GHJ has announced the acquisition of local firm Hacker Douglas & Company LLP, enhancing its presence in the entertainment sector and reinforcing its specialization in profit participation and entertainment accounting. The merger, effective from June 2025, will increase GHJ's capacity to serve high-profile clients in the entertainment industry and enrich its Profit Participation Services Practice with Hacker Douglas's decades of experience and reputed client-focused service.
GHJ, a Los Angeles-based accounting and advisory firm with FY23 revenue of $59.2 million, has announced the acquisition of local firm Hacker Douglas & Company LLP, a recognized leader in profit participation and entertainment accounting. The merger, effective June 2025, enhances GHJ’s already strong presence in the entertainment sector and underscores its long-term commitment to specialized, high-quality service.
Hacker Douglas brings decades of experience servicing top television productions and major motion pictures. The firm’s long-standing reputation for delivering audit excellence and client-focused results makes it a natural addition to GHJ’s Profit Participation Services Practice. The merger not only reinforces GHJ’s leadership in the niche entertainment accounting market but also allows for an expanded capacity to serve high-profile clients with increased depth and scale.
Partners Elaine Douglas and Wendy Mills of Hacker Douglas emphasized the shared values and alignment in client service philosophies between the two firms. Both pointed to GHJ’s robust infrastructure and respected industry knowledge as key reasons for the decision to join forces. The move, they said, ensures continuity of high-touch service while enabling future-ready support through greater resources and talent.
GHJ leaders echoed the strategic significance of the merger. Entertainment Practice leader Ilan Haimoff noted the cultural alignment and expertise fit as central to the deal’s success. Profit Participation Services Practice leader Peter Klass highlighted the complementary nature of Hacker Douglas’ client portfolio and service history, stating that the firm’s integration would elevate GHJ’s ability to meet increasing demand for sophisticated entertainment accounting services.
The transaction was facilitated with legal advisement from Sklar Kirsh. As the Hacker Douglas team officially joins GHJ, the firm positions itself to deliver even greater value to the entertainment industry—combining tradition with innovation in a sector that demands both.
Until next time…
