Top 10 Midwest CPA and business advisory group, Honkamp, P.C., has announced a merger with The Brems Group, LLP, expanding their presence in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City corridor with two new offices. This marks Honkamp's fifth acquisition in three years, reinforcing their growth strategy and commitment to providing world-class service to more clients.
Honkamp, P.C., a Top 10 Midwest CPA and business advisory group, has announced its merger with The Brems Group, LLP, effective August 1, 2024. This strategic move adds two new offices in Cedar Rapids and Coralville, Iowa, enhancing Honkamp's footprint in the thriving Cedar Rapids-Iowa City corridor.
The Brems Group, comprising approximately 20 employees, including leaders Jim Brems, Brian Coller, and John Warren, will continue to serve their clients from these new locations. Honkamp has maintained a strong presence in the region, with its Hiawatha office operating since the late 1990s.
Katie Thomas, President and CEO of Honkamp, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, stating, "We couldn't be more excited to continue our growth and to expand our presence in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area. The Brems Group and its leaders have a long track record of excellence in helping clients—the same standard that guides Honkamp. This merger will let us provide even more clients with world-class service and innovative solutions."

This merger marks Honkamp's fifth acquisition in three years, following the additions of Nigl Accounting LLP in December 2021, Vaassen, Pluemer CPAs, LLC, and the Cedar Falls office of Gosling & Co., P.C. in November 2022, and Schowalter & Jabouri, P.C. in December 2023.
