Kernutt Stokes, an Oregon-based accounting firm, announced its strategic merger with Fordham & Co, another Oregon-based firm. Kernutt Stokes will maintain its independence and client-first approach despite the ongoing industry trend of local firms joining bigger national or international organisations, aiming to enhance its presence in the Portland market.
Kernutt Stokes, an established accounting firm based in Eugene, Oregon, has announced a strategic merger with Fordham & Co, a Hillsboro-based firm with over 50 years of service in the Portland metro area. This merger, effective July 1, will see Fordham & Co operate under the Kernutt Stokes name, enhancing the firm's presence in the Portland market.
The merger brings together two firms with a shared commitment to client service and local decision-making. With the addition of Fordham & Co's Hillsboro office, Kernutt Stokes will now operate five offices across Oregon, employing over 110 staff members, including 14 partners. Steve Ritchie, Managing Partner at Kernutt Stokes, emphasized the alignment in client service approach and the opportunities this merger creates for both clients and employees.
Fordham & Co, known for its strong reputation and long-standing client relationships, will see its partners, Katie Eyre and Blair Walker, join the Kernutt Stokes partner group. Eyre highlighted the cultural and value alignment between the two firms, noting that the merger provides expanded resources while maintaining the personal client relationships that are central to their service.
This merger occurs amidst significant changes in the accounting profession, where many local firms are joining larger national or international organizations. Kernutt Stokes, however, remains committed to its independence, focusing on serving privately held and family-owned businesses in the Northwest. The addition of Fordham & Co strengthens Kernutt Stokes' ability to serve the region while maintaining its Oregon roots and client-first approach.
