McConnell Jones Expands with Strategic Acquisition of Taylor CPA & Associates

Houston-based McConnell Jones has announced its acquisition of Taylor CPA & Associates (TCPA), effective January 1, marking a significant step in its ongoing growth strategy. With this move, the firm strengthens its capabilities across advisory, risk, and tax services while expanding its geographic presence to 21 states.

The combination of McConnell Jones’ broad advisory portfolio and TCPA’s specialized tax, financial planning, and client accounting services is poised to deliver enhanced value to a wider range of clients. “The combination of our resources with those of TCPA creates a powerful, balanced synergy that will enhance our ability to innovate and deliver solution-based services,” said Wayne McConnell, managing partner of McConnell Jones. He emphasized that the acquisition will allow the firm to “reach a broader audience and penetrate new markets,” specifically highlighting TCPA’s extensive national footprint as a key growth lever.

TCPA brings expertise in wealth-creation through tax and financial planning, along with a significant presence in client accounting services. The firm’s expansive 21-state market coverage aligns with McConnell Jones’ long-term vision of national expansion and broader market engagement.

Odysseus “OD” Lanier, partner and advisory practice leader at McConnell Jones, noted that the acquisition will bolster the firm’s risk advisory and internal audit capabilities. “This strategic move enhances our capabilities and allows us to integrate TCPA’s exceptional risk advisory, internal audit co-sourcing, and Sarbanes Oxley operational control assessments expertise into our existing strengths,” said Lanier. “It further positions our firm to provide innovative, comprehensive solutions that address the challenges our clients face in an everchanging economy.”

From TCPA’s perspective, the merger represents a natural evolution in its growth journey. “By joining McConnell Jones, our combined resources, in seven offices located in Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia, will empower us to better serve our current clients by providing them with a more comprehensive and diversified range of services,” said William Taylor, partner and founder of TCPA. He added that both firms are committed to a seamless integration process aligned with their shared core values and strategic objectives.

With FY23 net revenue of $19.9 million, McConnell Jones continues to demonstrate its commitment to expanding service capabilities and market reach through strategic acquisitions. The addition of TCPA underscores the firm’s focus on innovation, value delivery, and long-term sustainability in a competitive advisory landscape.
