PBMares Merges with BSB CPAs to Expand Services

Virginia-based accounting firm PBMares plans to merge with BSB CPAs + Advisors, also located in Virginia, on January 1, 2025, adding five partners and expanding its workforce to nearly 400. The merger is aimed at adapting to the evolving accounting landscape, enhancing client services, deepening industry presence, and is expected to drive PBMares' annual revenue to exceed $90 million.

PBMares, a top 100 accounting firm based in Newport News, Virginia, has announced its merger with BSB CPAs + Advisors, located in Fairfax, Virginia. The merger, effective October 1, 2024, will officially integrate on January 1, 2025, adding five partners to PBMares' roster, bringing the total to 60 partners and nearly 400 employees.

CEO Harvey Johnson noted that both firms share similar values and a commitment to enhancing client services, particularly in the Washington, D.C. metro area. BSB's Managing Partner, Debbie Harris, emphasized that this partnership allows BSB to adapt to the changing accounting landscape while expanding service offerings.

With the merger, PBMares expects to deepen its existing industry niches and increase its annual revenue to over $90 million. The combination reflects both firms’ focus on sustainable growth and their alignment in culture, values, and service offerings.
