Abdo Appoints Abigail Smith as First-Ever CFO

Abdo LLP has appointed Abigail (Abby) Smith as its first-ever Chief Financial Officer (CFO), marking a significant step in the firm's evolution and growth. Smith, with over a decade of experience and dual certification as a CPA and CMA, returns to Abdo after senior stints at Intricon Corporation and within Abdo's nonprofit division, to manage all financial operations and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making.

Abdo LLP has named Abigail (Abby) Smith, CPA, CMA, as its first-ever Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a milestone move underscoring the firm’s evolving business complexity and expanded operations. Smith returns to Abdo after holding senior roles at Intricon Corporation and serving in Abdo’s nonprofit division earlier in her career.

With over a decade of progressive experience, Smith brings a dual certification as a CPA and CMA, along with deep expertise in both external and internal financial leadership. In her new role, she will oversee all financial operations while contributing to firm-wide strategic planning and decision-making.

“Our business has become more complex with increased volume, making the role of the CFO essential,” said Managing Partner Steve McDonald. “Abby will be a key member of our leadership team.”

A Minnesota native, Smith earned both her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in accounting from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She now resides in Maple Grove with her husband and two daughters, ready to shape the financial future of one of Minnesota’s leading advisory firms.
