Chicago-based firm Sikich has appointed Beryl (Berri) H. Davis, a former official at Government Accountability Office (GAO) as a director in its federal service line to boost its government auditing and financial management capabilities. Davis' over three-decade experience in government financial management will be instrumental in addressing federal agencies' accountability challenges and driving innovation in Sikich's federal audit practice.
Form of the Deal Chicago-based firm Sikich, with a net revenue of $363.8 million for FY23, has welcomed Beryl (Berri) H. Davis as a director in its federal service line. This strategic appointment aims to bolster Sikich's capabilities in government auditing and financial management.
Reason for the Appointment Davis joins Sikich following her retirement from the Government Accountability Office (GAO), where she held the position of managing director of Financial Management and Assurance. Her extensive experience, spanning over 30 years, uniquely positions her to navigate the complexities of government auditing.
Goals Behind the Appointment In her new role, Davis will leverage her expertise to ensure clients benefit from best practices while driving Sikich's federal financial statement and performance audit engagements. Her appointment is aimed at addressing the evolving accountability challenges that federal agencies face today.
Background of Beryl Davis Throughout her distinguished career at GAO, Davis oversaw various critical financial and performance audits, including those related to the Fiscal Service’s Schedules of the General Fund and addressing issues like improper payments and grants management. Before her tenure at GAO, she served as vice president of Standards and Guidance at the Institute of Internal Auditors, where she played a significant role in shaping best practices in auditing.
Industry Impact “Berri’s deep understanding of government financial management is unmatched, and her expertise will help us meet the evolving accountability challenges facing federal agencies today,” said Steve Koons, principal and federal government service line leader at Sikich. Her insights are expected to drive innovation within the firm's federal audit practice and enhance its involvement in national discussions surrounding government financial oversight.
Leadership and Training Contributions At Sikich, Davis will also represent the firm on technical planning committees for national conferences related to government financial management, contributing to industry discussions. Additionally, she will provide leadership in developing both internal and external training sessions, including panel discussions at key industry forums, thereby promoting knowledge-sharing and engagement across the field.
