Chicago-based advisory, tax, and assurance firm Baker Tilly, reporting FY24 net revenue of $1.72 billion, has announced the addition of Sonia Webb as chief financial officer and Amy Ward as chief people officer. These strategic appointments are part of Baker Tilly’s commitment to drive growth and enhance its operational excellence as it embarks on its next phase of development.
CEO Statement on Strategic Leadership Expansion
“Our ability to serve our clients and elevate the team member experience depends on having leaders with the strategic vision and operational expertise to lead us through the next stage of our firm’s evolution,” stated Baker Tilly CEO Jeff Ferro. “Sonia and Amy bring a wealth of experience in their respective fields, and I am confident they will play key roles in shaping our future success.”
Sonia Webb Joins as Chief Financial Officer
Effective September 18, Sonia Webb steps into her new role as principal and CFO, bringing over 20 years of experience in financial leadership. Previously, Webb served as CFO of Avanade, a leading Microsoft services provider, where she managed global financial operations, investment strategy, and financial planning across a workforce of 60,000 employees spanning 28 countries. Her career includes significant roles at Accenture, where she focused on enhancing operational efficiency, financial management, and technological strategies.
“Joining Baker Tilly is an incredible opportunity to contribute to a firm focused on innovation and people,” Webb commented. “I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive strategic growth while maintaining a strong focus on financial discipline, technology, and operational excellence.” In her new role, Webb will oversee Baker Tilly’s finance, enterprise technology, data and analytics, and administrative operations.
Amy Ward Assumes Role as Chief People Officer
Amy Ward assumed her role as principal and chief people officer on August 19, bringing substantial expertise in human capital strategy. Her previous role as chief HR officer at MUFG Union Bank involved initiatives in culture development, talent management, diversity, and organizational effectiveness. With nearly 20 years of leadership experience at PNC Financial Services Group, Ward’s background also includes deep knowledge in change management, learning and development, and organizational structuring.
“I am excited to join Baker Tilly at such a pivotal moment in its growth journey,” said Ward. “The opportunity to lead a people-focused strategy that prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and inclusion is incredibly inspiring. I look forward to building on the strong foundation and ensuring people are empowered to achieve their fullest potential.”
Reinforcing Baker Tilly’s Future Growth and Culture
The additions of Webb and Ward signify Baker Tilly’s dedication to bolstering its senior leadership team with professionals who bring both strategic vision and hands-on expertise. As Baker Tilly grows, the firm aims to maintain a strong emphasis on a people-centred culture and operational excellence, ensuring that the team and clients benefit from enhanced leadership and innovative solutions.
