Barnes Wendling CPAs, a Cleveland-based accounting, tax, and advisory firm, has announced the appointment of Rosemary Rehner, CPA, CEPA, as its new president, effective July 1, 2024. Rehner succeeds Jeffrey Neuman, CPA, JD, who has led the firm since 2000 and will continue with Barnes Wendling as a director and client service executive.
Rehner joined Barnes Wendling in 2007 and has served as a director in the accounting and assurance services department. In her new role, she will lead a team of 14 directors and a staff of 85, operating from offices in Cleveland, Sheffield Village, and Sandusky, Ohio, as well as remote locations across the country.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Rehner stated, "I am honored to begin my new role at Barnes Wendling and excited to lead our team. Our firm’s success is due to the contributions made by all of our team members, and I look forward to continuing our focus on a culture of collaboration."
Rehner's professional background includes experience as a senior manager in a national firm's assurance and advisory business services group, where she worked on audits of large public and nonpublic companies in the professional services, manufacturing, distribution, and construction industries. At Barnes Wendling, she has led the firm's employee benefit plan audit practice group, assisted clients with internal control consulting engagements, led the firm's SOC 1® and SOC 2® engagements practice, and contributed to information technology aspects of financial statement audits.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Rehner is actively involved in the community and professional organizations. She serves on the Peer Review Report Acceptance Body for the State of Ohio and the North American Region Committee of the MGI Association. She has also served on the Technical Issues Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Additionally, Rehner is the board president of Greater Cleveland Volunteers and a board member and audit committee chair for the Cleveland Play House. She is a graduate of Notre Dame College of Ohio and resides in Avon.
Barnes Wendling CPAs, established in 1946, serves privately-held businesses and not-for-profit organizations, focusing on building and maintaining clients' net worth. The firm has been recognized as a NorthCoast 99 Award winner for 14 years, highlighting its commitment to being a top workplace in Northeast Ohio.
Rehner's appointment marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first female president in the firm's history, reflecting Barnes Wendling's dedication to diversity and leadership development within the accounting profession.
Until next time…
