Former FBI Assistant Director, John Kavanagh, was appointed as the national security director at EisnerAmper. Kavanagh will improve the risk and compliance services of the firm, helping clients navigate U.S. government agreements, specifically CFIUS-related matters, and designing comprehensive compliance programs, thereby enhancing the firm's focus on working with clients in sensitive, federally regulated sectors.
EisnerAmper has appointed John Kavanagh as national security director within its risk & compliance services (RCS) practice, strengthening its advisory bench amid growing federal oversight. Kavanagh will advise companies navigating U.S. government mitigation agreements, including CFIUS-related matters, by streamlining compliance frameworks and developing national security strategies.
Kavanagh brings over 35 years of experience in federal law enforcement, defense, and consulting. A former FBI Assistant Director and U.S. Marine Corps officer, he has led major interagency operations and recently served as a senior figure in the Department of Defense’s CFIUS Monitoring Agency. In the private sector, he has advised top government leaders on national security transformation and enforcement modernization.
At EisnerAmper, Kavanagh will help clients assess risks, negotiate U.S. government agreements, and design efficient compliance programs. His arrival reflects the firm’s deepening focus on clients operating in sensitive, federally regulated sectors.
Managing partner Mark Staley called Kavanagh “an extraordinary addition” to the firm’s advisory strategy as it expands in high-security domains.
