Accounting firms Freed Maxick and Withum have strategically merged to expand their geographic reach and industry coverage. The merger hopes to enhance services in tax, automation, cybersecurity, and international business, thereby positioning the combined firm as a strong contender in the advisory space.
Freed Maxick has officially joined forces with fellow IPA 100 firm Withum in a strategic combination that expands both firms’ geographic and industry reach. Freed Maxick’s 36 partners and 325 professionals will join Withum while maintaining operations in Buffalo, Rochester, and Batavia, N.Y.
Leaders on both sides called the move a culture-first merger. Freed Maxick MD Richard J. Wright Jr. cited shared values of trust and people-first leadership, while Withum CEO Pat Walsh called the deal a “home run,” highlighting alignment in vision and client service.
The deal expands Withum’s healthcare audit and consulting presence, bolsters its international footprint with locations near the Canadian border, and deepens capacity in financial services, manufacturing, higher education, real estate, and more. Clients can also expect enhanced services in tax, automation, cybersecurity, and international business.
With Freed Maxick’s legacy of regional excellence and Withum’s national brand, the merger positions the combined firm as a rising force in the advisory space.
