KPMG International has appointed Dan Konigsburg as its new Global Head of Public Affairs, effective January 22, 2024. In this role, Konigsburg will oversee the coordination of KPMG's public policy activities, engaging with key stakeholders such as policymakers, academics, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), multilateral organizations, and professional bodies.
Professional Background
Konigsburg brings over two decades of experience in public policy and international corporate governance. Prior to joining KPMG, he served as the Senior Managing Director of Corporate Governance and Public Policy at Deloitte, where he led the Global Center for Corporate Governance and managed engagement programs with institutional investors. His extensive experience includes leadership roles in various organizations, such as Chairman of the OECD’s Business Advisory Committee on Corporate Governance, a member of the Board of Governors of the International Corporate Governance Network, and a board member at the U.S. Council for International Business.
Role and Responsibilities
As Global Head of Public Affairs, Konigsburg will work closely with public affairs leaders across KPMG's global network to engage with a wide range of stakeholders on key policy issues. His focus areas will include corporate governance, responsible business practices, trade, climate change, decarbonization, and the regulation of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency. Konigsburg aims to foster dialogue and collaboration on these critical topics to advance trust in capital markets and promote positive societal change.
Leadership Perspectives
Konigsburg expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, "I am excited to join a firm that is in the vanguard of advancing trust in our capital markets. Given the many challenges in our policy and regulatory environment—from climate change reporting to the advent of artificial intelligence to a set of increasingly complex geopolitical conditions—I am honored and humbled to carry on the tremendous work of Stephen Allis. I am eager to get started."
This appointment underscores KPMG's commitment to strengthening its public affairs capabilities and enhancing its engagement with global policy and regulatory developments.
Until next time…
