Accounting firm Plante Moran has announced major leadership changes across various practice areas effective from 1 July. The reshuffling includes Bill Brickey taking over as Managing Partner of the Detroit office, Matthew Kelly leading the K-12 education practice, and Alisha Watkins heading the government practice.

Plante Moran has announced a series of leadership transitions across major practice areas, effective July 1, reinforcing the firm’s long-term succession strategy and continued focus on growth, innovation, and client service.

Bill Brickey has been named Managing Partner of the firm’s Detroit office. In his new role, Brickey will focus on developing talent, expanding the Detroit team, and supporting practice development. He will also continue delivering audit, tax, and consulting services to clients in the governmental, retail auto dealership, and professional services sectors. He succeeds Eric Wydra, who is preparing for retirement in November after a distinguished career.

Matthew Kelly now leads Plante Moran’s K-12 education practice, which serves over 200 educational institutions, including public and private schools, intermediate districts, and academies. Kelly will continue managing the Kalamazoo office while building upon the practice’s statewide reach. He takes over from Jennifer Chambers, who will continue serving clients in both the K-12 and real estate sectors.

Alisha Watkins has assumed leadership of the government practice, overseeing more than 200 professionals who support public-sector clients with compliance, financial forecasting, and operational strategy. Watkins succeeds Brian Camiller, who will now focus on the continued development of the firm’s government accounting professionals team, which provides outsourced financial management services to governmental and nonprofit entities.

“I’m looking forward to seeing these talented professionals step into their new roles,” said Managing Partner Jason Drake. “Their knowledge and leadership will play a vital role in driving Plante Moran forward as we continue to grow and innovate — while honoring the values and client-first culture that have defined our firm for more than 100 years.”

These leadership changes mark a deliberate and strategic alignment of experience and capability with the firm’s evolving client needs and growth objectives.

Until next time…
