Sikich Announces Three New Leadership Roles Amid Continued Growth

Chicago-based firm Sikich has created three new leadership roles in its compliance practice which will be filled by Melanie Barnes, Matt Denton and Kurt Walcutt, focusing on assurance, growth and tax services respectively. This restructuring forms part of the firm's growth strategy, with the aim of strengthening oversight and promoting innovation in its assurance services and other areas.
Chicago-based Sikich has announced the creation of three new leadership roles within its compliance practice, reflecting the firm’s continued growth and expanding market presence.
The expanded leadership responsibilities will be assumed by Melanie Barnes, Matt Denton and Kurt Walcutt, strengthening oversight across assurance, growth and tax services.
Melanie Barnes, CPA, will lead assurance while continuing to oversee the firm’s for-profit assurance practice. With more than 20 years of public accounting and industry experience, Barnes has played a central role in expanding Sikich’s assurance services. In her enhanced role, she will focus on supporting client compliance needs as organizations scale through various stages of growth.
Matt Denton, CPA, MBA, has been appointed to lead growth initiatives in a newly elevated role. A 12-year Sikich veteran, Denton brings deep client relationships and industry experience that he will leverage to drive firmwide growth strategies and support client expansion.
Kurt Walcutt, CPA, will lead the firm’s tax practice, drawing on more than 35 years of experience in accounting, tax and business advisory services. His background includes tax planning, corporate structuring, estate planning, M&A transactions and succession planning across multiple industries.
