Steve Whetstine Joins Forvis Mazars as Audit Partner, Strengthening Florida Operations

Audit firm Forvis Mazars has announced Steve Whetstine as their new partner based in Jacksonville, Florida. Whetstine's three-decade career spans various industries and his previous role was in a senior position at an international firm; his appointment aims to bolster Forvis Mazars's strategic growth within the Florida market.
Firm Forvis Mazars (FY24 net revenue $2.15 billion) has announced the appointment of Steve Whetstine as a partner in its audit practice, based in the Jacksonville, Fla., office. Whetstine brings nearly three decades of diverse experience to the role, further enhancing the firm’s expertise and strategic growth in the Florida market.
A Proven Leader in Audit Excellence
Whetstine’s career spans 30 years, during which he has worked with companies across a range of industries, including real estate, asset management, construction, manufacturing, distribution, food and beverage, technology, higher education, and nonprofits. His extensive expertise includes guiding clients through initial public offerings, secondary offerings, and private placements, as well as conducting financial statement audits for public and private entities.
Prior to joining Forvis Mazars in October, Whetstine held a senior role at a large international firm, where he served as an engagement quality review partner for International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) audits. He also contributed to various audit quality initiatives, such as internal inspections and in-flight review programs, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to audit excellence.
“Steve’s extensive experience and leadership skills, as well as his demonstrated commitment to audit quality, will be tremendous assets to our clients and to our firm,” said Paul Thompson, managing partner for the Florida practice unit at Forvis Mazars. “This move is also aligned with our strategic initiatives and commitment to grow our Florida presence.”
Strategic Growth in Florida
Whetstine’s addition to the Jacksonville office comes amid significant expansion efforts by Forvis Mazars in Florida. On November 1, the firm announced its partnership with MSL, P.A., an audit, tax, and consulting services firm with 120 professionals. This collaboration extends Forvis Mazars’ footprint in Florida to Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Tallahassee, solidifying its presence in the state’s key markets.
