The Ohio Society of CPAs (OSCPA) has announced that after 12 years of exceptional service, Scott Wiley is stepping down from his role as President and CEO, effective January 13, 2025. Laura Hay, CPA, who has been serving as OSCPA's Executive Vice President, will succeed Wiley in this leadership position.
Laura Hay's appointment is historic, as she becomes both the first female and the first CPA to lead the organization in its over 100-year history. Throughout her career at OSCPA, Hay has been instrumental in enhancing the profession's reputation and strengthening its impact across Ohio and beyond.
Rick Fedorovich, CPA, Executive Chairman of BMF CPAs and OSCPA Board Chair, expressed confidence in Hay's leadership, stating, "Laura's extensive experience and proven leadership within OSCPA make her the ideal choice to lead us into the future. Her strategic vision and unwavering commitment to innovation will build on the stability, strength, and success Scott has fostered."
During his tenure, Scott Wiley led OSCPA to significant achievements, including establishing the organization as an industry leader in protecting and strengthening the CPA profession through innovative legislation, prioritizing the creation of one of the nation's largest and most inclusive CPA pipelines, and elevating the influence of CPAs as trusted business advisors across various industries.
Reflecting on the transition, Wiley stated, "Laura is a leader who cares about developing people and building strong teams. I trust her—and more importantly, Ohio CPAs trust her. With Laura at the helm, OSCPA's best days are ahead."
As she steps into her new role, Hay has outlined strategic priorities that include growing talent and ensuring incoming professionals are prepared to succeed, building OSCPA's advocacy outreach to further innovate, protect, and strengthen the profession, and guaranteeing OSCPA's unwavering commitment to excellence remains steadfast. She remarked, "I am honored to lead this remarkable organization and deeply inspired by the trust and commitment of our statewide membership. With the dedication of our dynamic staff and the vision of our board, I am confident that we can achieve extraordinary things together."
This leadership transition marks a significant milestone for OSCPA as it continues to advance the accounting profession in Ohio.
Until next time…
