Princeton-based company Withum has launched a cryptocurrency cost basis tracking service aimed at aiding individuals and businesses with digital asset taxation and IRS compliance. The service, designed to meet IRS's Form 1099-DA requirements for 2025, will offer technology integrations and expert support to reduce tax exposure, handle high-frequency trading, DeFi activity, NFT transactions, and cross-border events.
Princeton, N.J.-based firm Withum has introduced a cryptocurrency cost basis tracking service to help individuals and businesses navigate digital asset taxation and IRS compliance.
The offering comes as the IRS requires Form 1099-DA for 2025, mandating detailed reporting for digital asset transactions. Withum’s solution combines technology integrations and in-house expertise to track crypto cost basis, generate audit-ready reports, and support strategic tax planning.
“This service empowers clients to reduce tax exposure and stay ahead of evolving regulations,” said Dan Krolikowski, partner and co-leader of Withum’s founders and tech executive services practice. It addresses challenges including high-frequency trading, DeFi activity, NFT transactions, cross-border events, and offers FIFO, LIFO, and Specific ID cost basis tracking.
