Miami businessman, Daniel Liburdi, pleaded guilty to filing false tax returns for three years and agreed to pay nearly $35 million in restitution to the IRS. Liburdi was convicted of fraudulently reporting US-generated income as if it was earned by a Virgin Islands entity, which led to significant tax savings and the subsequent criminal case; he must also forfeit multimillion-dollar properties and luxury vehicles.
