The Pentagon has failed its financial audit for the seventh consecutive year, leading to the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, to review and reform financial management within the Department of Defense (DoD). Despite some improvements in separate audits, the DoD could not precisely account for the expenditure of its $824 billion budget, raising national security and accountability concerns and driving the push for reforms including the implementation of AI-driven systems and third-party auditors to identify waste and fraud.
