Deloitte Got Caught Flat Footed in a $21.5M Settlement

Deloitte has agreed to pay $21.5 million to settle allegations by the Justice Department that it violated the False Claims Act (FCA) by failing to comply with non-discrimination requirements linked to federal contracts. The DOJ claimed Deloitte incorporated race or sex considerations in specific employment decisions and prioritized certain demographic goals, while the FCA can implicate defendants for treble damages and penalties and allows for private whistleblowers to sue on behalf of the government.
