Generational differences in workplace language and communication styles between Gen Z and older employees, particularly Baby Boomers, create challenges and occasional misinterpretations, according to a Sunny Workplace survey. As the Gen Z workforce leans more towards informal communication and questions traditional work practices, predominantly due to the impact of remote work and social media, management and administration strategies need to adapt to maintain productivity and mutual comprehension in a multilingual workplace.
A 24-year-old staff accountant sends her manager an email that says, “hey, finished the client file. lmk if anything looks off.” No greeting. No punctuation. No “Best regards.” No carefully engineered sentence about appreciating the opportunity to assist....
