The Los Angeles Lakers are set to be acquired by Josh Kushner and former Disney chief Bob Iger in a deal valued at $12.5 billion, making it the highest valuation for a professional sports team. This deal comes less than a year after a group led by Mark Walter bought control of the team for a $10 billion valuation. The transaction still awaits approval by the NBA and its implications on the Buss family regime and potential shifts in basketball operations are yet to be seen.
