Netflix acquired InterPositive, a startup founded by Ben Affleck, for $587 million in March 2026. InterPositive, specializing in AI tools for professional filmmaking, provides Netflix a technological edge, specialized talent, proprietary data, and credibility within Hollywood, which Netflix aims to leverage to expedite content production and reduce costs.
Netflix did not spend $587 million simply to add another AI tool to its software stack. It bought a small technical team, proprietary filmmaking data, a new production workflow, and something Silicon Valley cannot easily code: credibility inside Hollywood...
