RSM US has launched Ask Luca, an artificial intelligence tool built into its digital audit system, aimed at helping assurance professionals deliver efficient and accurate audits. The software offers real-time advice taken directly from assurance manuals, practice aids, and accounting guides, improving the speed and precision of audits, and paving the way for future automated tools within RSM's digital auditing platform.
RSM US has introduced Ask Luca, a generative artificial intelligence tool embedded within RSM Luca, the firm’s digital audit ecosystem, designed to support assurance professionals in delivering more efficient and high-quality audits. The tool is now available to the firm’s more than 4,000 assurance professionals and is intended to enhance research, decision-making, and audit execution as teams prepare for the upcoming busy season.
Ask Luca delivers real-time guidance drawn directly from RSM US assurance manuals, practice aids, and technical accounting guides. By providing fast access to firm-approved content, the tool reduces research time and helps auditors navigate complex accounting and auditing issues with greater speed and precision. RSM US stated that Ask Luca also establishes a foundation for future assurance-focused intelligent agents within its digital audit platform.
Brandon Rucker, enterprise assurance leader at RSM US, said RSM Luca is reshaping the audit experience for clients by combining advanced digital tools with professional expertise. He noted that integrating generative AI capabilities allows assurance professionals to perform audits that are both more efficient and aligned with the firm’s quality standards, adding that Ask Luca expands the digital tools available to audit teams.
According to Troy Merkel, assurance digital leader at RSM US, Ask Luca strengthens the overall capabilities of RSM Luca by delivering enhanced research functionality that supports auditors as they provide audit services to middle-market clients. Merkel emphasized that the tool complements professional judgment rather than replacing it, enabling auditors to analyze broader data sets and generate deeper insights.
Beyond research support, RSM US said its digital audit ecosystem applies AI across multiple stages of the audit process. These include risk-focused data analysis to better understand client environments, enhanced risk assessment through intelligent journal entry visualizations and anomaly detection, automated audit evidence reviews that match source documents more efficiently, and financial statement review and validation to support required audit procedures.
RSM US continues to invest heavily in digital transformation. In June, the firm announced a $1 billion investment over three years to accelerate and scale its artificial intelligence strategy. Sergio de la Fe, enterprise digital leader at RSM US, said the firm is rapidly advancing its digital capabilities by integrating intelligent agent technology across its platforms, reinforcing its approach to digitally delivered assurance, tax, and consulting services.
