The UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has fined London-based audit firm King & King and its managing partner, Milankumar Patel, £378,184 for "egregious" failures in audits conducted on businesses within Sanjeev Gupta's GFG Alliance. The FRC found deficiencies in planning, risk assessment, and financial statement disclosures, among other things, demonstrating how fee dependence, missed red flags, and weak professional skepticism can compromise an audit's integrity.
