The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against tax exemptions for tribal citizens living on reservations, in the case of Stroble v. Oklahoma Tax Commission. Despite Muscogee (Creek) Nation citizen Alicia Stroble's appeal and several tribes, including the Cherokee Nation, this decision asserts that the state retains jurisdiction over taxation, which could potentially impact $75 million in the state's revenue stream and challenges tribal sovereignty.
