UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves is planning to end the exemption of employer national insurance contributions (NICs) on limited liability partnerships (LLPs), impacting the Big Four accounting firms: EY, Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG, as well as law firms and private doctors. The proposed change, aimed at relieving a £20-£30bn fiscal shortfall, could raise £1.9bn a year but is heavily disputed by the firms, which warn the move could potentially push up client costs, reduce competitiveness, and trigger an exodus of talent.
