New York has passed Assembly Bill A7613B and Senate Bill S6891B, introducing a new Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure path which allows for less college education and more relevant work experience. The move aims to combat widespread talent shortages, making the CPA profession more accessible and competitive by offering alternatives to the traditional and expensive 150-credit-hour requirement.
New York dropped a licensing bombshell hotter than a tax season audit letter. With the passage of Assembly Bill A7613B and Senate Bill S6891B, the Empire State has officially opened the door to a new CPA licensure path—one that skips the pricey fifth year...
