How often does CIMA renewal occur?

CIMA certification renews every two years. Your individual renewal date is shown in your IWI dashboard.

What topics can count toward CIMA CE?

Accepted topics include technical investment management, wealth management, governance and regulations, retirement management, and supplemental business or leadership topics when they relate to investment or wealth management.

One CE credit requires at least 50 minutes of instruction. After the first credit hour, IWI calculates CE in half-hour increments and rounds down to the nearest half hour.

They can be, if the activity falls into an accepted IWI CE category and meets documentation rules. When timed attendance is not possible, IWI says a scored quiz can serve as proof of completion.

No. IWI states that approved CE hours apply across all active CIMA, CPWA, and RMA certifications, so the same accepted activity can satisfy the shared renewal requirement.

IWI allows a limited carryover of up to 10 hours of credits earned from the final six months.

Log in to your IWI account, go to My Renewal Requirements, and select Report CE. You can also review your current and prior records through the CE Summary area.

If selected, you must provide documentation showing proof of completion, content, and clock time within 30 days. Institute-provided CE is not subject to audit.
