Carry over Credits

Georgia CPA has to take a minimum of 80 hours of CPE credits in every reporting cycle, However Excess Credit of up to 15 hours can be carried forward to the next reporting cycle.

Note: Carry-over credits cannot be used to meet yearly minimums or accounting and auditing requirements.

  • There are no subject area restrictions for Georgia (GA) CPA (Georgia CPA can earn CPE Credits from NASBA Approved CPE Providers as long as it directly relates to the professional competence of the person).
  • Subjects such as spirituality, personal health and/or fitness, sports and recreations, foreign language, and production which will not contribute directly shall not be allowed.

Georgia CPA requires 80 hours of CPE to be completed every reporting cycle, From January 1st to December 31st biennially in odd-numbered years, and must be reported to the Board by December 31st biennially in the odd-numbered years as part of the renewal process.

Members for renewal of a live permit to practice public accounting must provide a signed statement, under penalty of perjury, that all applicable continuing education requirements have been met. You will be responsible for submitting copies of your certificates of completion and/or verification of courses at the time of the audit. You must retain your documentation for at least Five (5) years from the date the program was completed.
