Delivery company UPS has been fined $45m by the SEC for inflating the value of its freight business during 2019 and 2020, which caused its earnings to be materially higher than they should have been. The issue serves as a reminder of the importance of transparent financial reporting, and though UPS has not admitted guilt, it has stated a commitment to "avoid similar violations in the future."
