CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR ACCREDITED IN BUSINESS VALUATION (ABV)

NASBA APPROVED CPD PROVIDER

MY-CPE LLC is approved by NASBA as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider and has effectively met the standards set up by the NASBA. We are focused on providing quality continuing education to all Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) with content that incorporates the most recent updates and industry principles. Our approved Continuing Professional Development courses are authored/reviewed by industry specialists and subject matter experts. All our courses are designed in a way to ensure that courses meet your continuing education requirements as specified by the NASBA.

CPD REQUIREMENTS FOR ABV

  • No. of Credits: 64 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) within the credential body of knowledge every 3 years.
  • Minimum requirements: minimum of 10 hours annually
  • Carry Forward of the credits: Not applicable
  • CPD Reporting: Credential renewal occurs in July of each year. Credential holders must meet the recertification requirements in the calendar year prior to renewal. If the credential holder is newly credentialed, CPD does not need to be completed until the year following receipt of credential.

  • Consequences of not maintaining CPD : The credential will be revoked and the reinstatement requirements must be met to regain the credential.

ETHICS REQUIREMENT FOR ABV

  • 4 hours of professional ethics education every 3 years

QUALIFYING LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Continuing professional development may include: 

  • Structured learning activities approved by NASBA or a legally constituted state authority, or 

  • Unstructured learning activities - may constitute up to 50% (30 hours every 3 years) of a credential holder’s CPD to meet credential renewal requirements.

ACCEPTABLE SUBJECT AREAS

The following are acceptable subject areas included in the acceptable the required body of knowledge for the ABV credential holder:

  • Cash Flow Valuation

  • Specialized Valuation Skills and Training

  • Analysis of Financial Information

  • Financial Forecasting

  • Estimating Cost of Capital (Discount and Capitalization Rates)

  • Selecting and Evaluating Guideline Company Data

  • Determining the Proper Valuation Discounts or Premiums

  • Linkages between Approaches, Standards of Value, Purpose of Valuation, and Discounts

  • Entity and Specialized Industry Issues

  • Report Preparation and Engagement Administration

  • Litigation and Dispute Resolution Services

  • Attendance at Annual AICPA Conferences and Conferences of Other Professional Organizations Containing Valuation-related Topics
