What are CPE Requirements for Idaho Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Professionals?

What is the Ethics Requirement for Idaho Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Professionals?

Idaho (ID) CPA has to earn at least 4 hours of ethics over the 2-year rolling period. New licensees to take a minimum of 2-hour Idaho State Specific Ethics course during the first calendar year of their license, Reinstatement or Re-entry applicants for an active license must complete a 2-hour Idaho State Specific Ethics course prior to submitting their application. Any Ethics CPE credits also count towards fulfilling the total 80 CPE credits required over 2 years.

  • The online reporting system is available for members to use throughout the year to record the CPE courses they have completed on the board website. Members can enter their CPE hours at any time and submit them at the end when they have completed their CPE hours. Members prior year reported hours, and current year requirements are displayed at the top of the page.
  • If you are not liable to upload your certificates of completion, you should keep your copies in case the board performs an audit of your CPE, you will be responsible for submitting copies of your certificates of completion and/or verification of courses at the time of the audit. You must retain your documentation for at least five (5) years from the date the program was completed.

An Idaho (ID) CPA can complete 100 percent (%) of required CPE credits via self-study courses i.e. All 80 hours of CPE credits can be completed via self-study courses and the 40 CPE Package of myCPE is 100% compliant with that requirement.

Yes, the Idaho Board of accountancy allows courses completed via nano learning to count towards the ID CPE requirements.

A registrant must report, at a minimum, the CPE hours required for the registration renewal period. Hours that exceed the number required for the current registration renewal period may not be carried forward to a subsequent registration renewal period.

You are in non-compliance if you do not complete at least 80 hours of acceptable CPE by December 31. Penalty hours will be assessed on all extensions at half of the amount of the CPE that you are short. For example, if you are short 14 CPE credits, you will be assessed 7 penalty CPE credits. You will be required to submit a total of 21 CPE credits by April 30th in order to be in compliance.



Note: If deadlines are not met, not only will you be monetarily fined, you may not be eligible to renew your license in the active status.
