Roger Vester, CPA is the president of ROGER VESTER INC from Georgetown, TX and has over 40 years of experience. He has been working with MYCPE ONE offshore staffing for more than 2 years now. He is more than 65 years old now and still drives to work everyday. In this video Roger shares his experience working with MYCPE ONE & how offshore staffing has helped him to manage his work while capitalizing.
MYCPE ONE: Can you share something about you & your practice in accounting?
Roger: Hello! I’m Roger Vester, CPA & I‘ve been working more than 40 years in the accounting business and a lot of them have been in private accounting practices. After being with different companies as CFO & Controller. I've recently acquired a small accounting firm 3 years ago, to continue practice here in George Town ever since. As of last year we’ve more than 400 clients so far & another firm came to me and asked if I wanted to take over their business and which ultimately I did and we picked up probably net about 300 more clients. So, we're sitting about 700 clients, but we're a small firm. We have basically two key workers in here along with a front desk to meet clients. So we’ve taken over this other firm & the challenge was how are we going to get all of this work done.
MYCPE ONE: Tell us about the due diligence you did before associating with MYCPE ONE?
Roger: That's a good question! We looked at three different firms and a little bit more online, two firms in India that we looked at besides few more in other countries. MYCPE ONE was quite interesting from the viewpoint as to purely working with accounting firms and with their ability to throw quality staffing really was a very much of a positive for us. So we had some initial interviews with two of the key people in India, and with those interviews we decided that MYCPE ONE was somebody that we could work with. So they set up some interviews with some some accountants that we could work with. We interviewed three of the accountants and even though we were looking for just one person at the time, we ended up bringing on two of those people.
One to do purely bookkeeping work from the other do purely tax work. As we worked this other of countless clients into our business. As we have progressed since then is that first of all we were way behind at a lot of our bookkeeping work for our clients. One of the accountants that was brought in to help us with the bookkeeping spent several months getting all of the bookkeeping caught up and now it's caught up, and I would say almost on a real-time basis right now. We still have some improvements to make that we're going to make moving forward with the staff that has worked with us from India. Doing the tax work also they really have done a good job in getting the tax returns done to the point where I need to review them and to be honest, they're up to date and I have a whole stack of returns that I need to continue to review. Of course we're all the time looking for ways to improve the process where MYCPE ONE could be more work for us and where MYCPE ONE can do a better job for us and we're looking for ways that we can improve our communications over to MYCPE ONE so that they will do a better job for us. It's a continual process of continuous improvement and as long as we continually improve that's the bottom line and to meet our clients needs on a timely basis.
MYCPE ONE: What Impressed you most about MYCPE ONE?
Roger: Working with MYCPE ONE has been really great experience from the viewpoint that I get immediate feedback from the staff over there when I ask it. I have hearing issues and so I do a lot of communications with email . My other staff does a little bit more communications verbally with them. But we get the feedback as to what work has been done and I think that it's really great and if my firm was larger I would really be looking for more staff from MYCPE ONE.
I've just recently received some great ideas on how we can improve some of those processes and we're looking forward to moving forward with MYCPE ONE over the next several months and actually the next couple in several years as I'm looking forward to it. I don't know, my wife says, I'll probably never really retire but I want to phase down and let my son-in-law and other key partners start taking on more responsibilities. So I'm looking forward to MYCPE ONE helping us with that transition.
