ICAEW members' CPD requirements depend on their role and organization. There are three categories with varying minimum CPD hours:
Practice:
Category 1: 40 hours (30 verifiable)
Category 2: 30 hours (20 verifiable)
Category 3: 20 hours (10 verifiable)
Working outside practice:
Category 1: 40 hours (15 verifiable)
Category 2: 30 hours (10 verifiable)
Category 3: 20 hours (5 verifiable)

There is no minimum content requirement for ICAEW CPD.

Yes, ICAEW allows 100% of CPD hours to be completed through self-study.

CPD credits must be completed and reported by October 31 annually.
ICAEW licenses must be renewed by January 1 annually.
Excess CPD hours cannot generally be carried forward, except for ethics CPD completed before November 1, 2023, which applies to the 2023/24 cycle.
Relevant and verifiable CPD records must be retained for at least three years after the end of the CPD year.
