CPE Requirements

Earn and report at least 20 CPE hours each calendar year and at least 120 CPE hours over each 3-year cycle.

License Renewal Period

Annually.

CPE Reporting Cycle

ISACA applies a calendar-year annual requirement plus a 3-year certification cycle. The certificate expiration reflects the 3-year cycle, but annual requirements still apply each year.

Ethics Requirement

No minimum ethics requirement.

Carry Over Credits

Carry forward of credits is not allowed.

Subject Area Restriction

Of the 20 annual hours, 10 must be skills-based training or lab activities.

Simplifying Regulations for 2026

CPE Requirement

Complete at least 20 CPE hours every calendar year and 120 across the 3-year cycle. 10 of the annual hours must be skills-based or lab-based.

Ethics Requirement

No minimum ethics requirement.

Initial CPE Hours

Under ISACA's general certification rule, the annual and 3-year maintenance period begins on 1 January of the year after certification. Hours earned between certification and 31 December can count toward the initial period. CET is now retired for new candidates.

100% of CPD can be completed through self-study.

Eligible Learning Activities

Qualifying activities include ISACA and non-ISACA conferences, seminars, workshops, chapter programs, in-house corporate training, university courses, self-study, vendor presentations, teaching, publishing, exam question development, passing related exams, volunteer or professional contributions, and mentoring. Published annual caps include 10 hours for vendor sales presentations, 20 for board or committee work, 20 for contributions to the profession, and 10 for mentoring. Read more

Reporting Period

The annual reporting period is the calendar year. CET holders must also satisfy the separate 3-year cycle requirement shown in ISACA's certification records.

License Renewal

To remain in active status, meet the annual and 3-year CPE requirements, pay the annual maintenance fee, comply with the ethics code, and respond to any CPE audit if selected. Non-compliance can lead to revocation.

Keep supporting documentation for 12 months after the end of each 3-year reporting cycle.

Renewal Fees

The annual CET maintenance fee is US$45 for ISACA members and US$85 for non-members. For a 3rd or additional ISACA certification, the fee is US$25 for members and US$50 for non-members. Visit site
