NJ CPA CPE Requirements for Self-Study and Ethics Courses

NJ CPA CPE requirements permit qualifying self-study for regular credits, but the mandatory NJ law and ethics CPE course is different. For the 2024–2026 cycle, active CPAs generally need 120 credits, including at least 20 annually and 60 in technical subjects.

Those practicing public accountancy need 24 accounting and auditing credits. The four-credit NJ law and ethics course must be Board-approved and completed through live, interactive instruction, not independent self-study.

Before NJ CPA license renewal on December 31, 2026, check the sponsor’s approval, verify each course’s credit classification, and keep completion certificates for five years in case of an audit.
