Washington CPA CPE Requirements for Reporting and Ethics

Washington CPA CPE requirements depend on license status and the three-year renewal cycle. Active CPAs generally must earn 120 hours, including at least 20 each year and a four-hour Washington Board-approved ethics course. Inactive licensees need the Board-approved ethics course rather than all 120 hours.

Before renewal, enter each qualifying course in the Board’s online CPE Tracker; listing courses is required even when certificates are not uploaded. Check that your Washington CPA ethics course is approved for the year you complete it. Keep completion records for three years after the reporting period, and renew between January 1 and April 30.
